Here we have undertaken a green wall project for a newly opened multi-storey car park in the coastal area of Nagoya, which has seen an increase in development of commercial and entertainment facilities in recent years. Along the sides of the 22.59 meter tall, six-floored building, wires have been stretched for vines to climb. Trees of various sizes were placed in-between the wires to emphasize the greenery. We have tested various vine plants at the location to select the those that can withstand the harsh coastal conditions. SUS wire with white PVC coating was used as the base material for the green wall, and they are visible from the outside. By working something that are normally hidden into a part of the design, we have aimed to retain the design features even during seasons with less foliage.
